Music for everyone

“That is a recording voice…”

She’s a twenty-six year old British singer-songwriter from Liverpool who came to stardom when she participated on The X Factor. Although she didn’t win the final, she got something much more precious. She had been signed by a record label which later became a joint record deal with Epic Records.

She released her debut studio album called ‘Heaven’ on 2011, featuring genres such as soul, blues, pop and R&B. Its success was so immediate, that she’s even been compared to her biggest influence, ‘Queen of Soul’, Aretha Franklin…

Why don’t you just Free Your Mind?

They’re an American R&B female band formed in 1989. Considered one of the most popular all-female group of all times, En Vogue, has won many awards and Grammy nominations.

The following song, from their second album ‘Funky Divas’ was released on the early 90’s, being one of their most succesful singles…

Ain’t no sunshine…

Originally by musician Bill Withers on 1971, this song has been covered many times by great artists such as Michael Jackson or Neil Diamond. It became a breakthrough for Withers, reaching the top charts on the US.

The following cover, from 90’s British duo Lighthouse Family, was featured on the popular film ‘Notting Hill’, staring Hugh Grant and Julia Roberts.

May I say Sade…

After a few days, I’m back with a voice from the 80’s. Originally born in Nigeria, this British singer-songwriter, became the frontwoman and lead vocalist in the well-known Grammy Award winning band Sade.

Solo performances of ‘Smooth Operator’,  drew attention to record companies, being Epic Records the one which finally closed the deal.

With two of her most popular and acclaimed songs, here she is, one of the most succesful solo female artists in British history, Helena Folasade Adu, better known as Sade…

“You only live once”

Today I’m bringing you the real Godfather of Soul. He’s been known since the early 50’s when he joined the gospel band, The Starlighters which later on became The Famous Flames. Years later, he released what would become his number one single ‘It’s a Man’s, Man’s, Man’s World’.

Throughout the years, his fame grew stronger and people would sing his songs all over the world. He’s been an influence on artists such as Michael Jackson, Mick Jagger, David Bowie, Prince and many others. He had a long and succesful life which sadly came to an end on 2006.

What else can I say about him but he is one of the greatest and a true Master of Funk and Soul…

“Music expresses that which cannot be said and on which it is impossible to be silent”

Where to choose from all the amazing songs this English singer-songwriter has done over the years. He started out as a drummer in Genesis and later on became the lead singer after Peter Gabriel’s departure.

He’s been known since and has become one of the best male solo artists in the world. The 80’s were the best years as he had more top hits on the Billboard charts than any other artist. Due to health problems, on 2011 he sang for the last time.

What can I say, it is a real pity I’ve missed such an incredible artist on stage. And for those you lucky ones who had the possibility, I hope you really appreciate it…
