Show me some music Miss Li…

I know I haven’t posted in a while, but today I’m back with a good one. She is a Swedish singer-songwriter from Borlänge. Since 2006, her music has been featured in many popular shows and commercials, making her a well renowned artist. Together with the band, she has toured all over the place, with that mixture of jazz-pop we like and hope listening to for a long time…

It’s never too late…

Leagues is a three-man band from Nashville who, one day, decided to just drop everything and focus on music. They’re “a group of men leaving behind any preconceived notions or expectations but never their innate musicianship or love for the craft of songwriting”.

At first, the members all had music careers of their own, but no matter how much they loved it, this was clearly better and something they were certainly not expecting. They felt like it was meant to be and started “to make music they’d never quite played before but never sounded so right”.

The band’s first album, was released last January. It is filled with joyful and refreshing tunes which deserve to be heard…

“That is a recording voice…”

She’s a twenty-six year old British singer-songwriter from Liverpool who came to stardom when she participated on The X Factor. Although she didn’t win the final, she got something much more precious. She had been signed by a record label which later became a joint record deal with Epic Records.

She released her debut studio album called ‘Heaven’ on 2011, featuring genres such as soul, blues, pop and R&B. Its success was so immediate, that she’s even been compared to her biggest influence, ‘Queen of Soul’, Aretha Franklin…

“It’s Nice To Be Alive”

Ball Park Music is an Indie Rock/Pop band from Australia formed in 2008. Their name was first given to frontman Sam Cromack’s solo work before he met with the rest of the members and started playing together.

They’ve released two albums and the following song is from their first one called ‘Happiness and Surrounding Suburbs’…

“XOXO Gossip Girl…”

First it was Chuck, then OTH and now Gossip Girl has come to an end. Monday night, the series said goodbye with no disappointment, even with some last-minute bombshells, just the way GG knows to. It was time for the show to end but after 6 seasons of gossip, drama, secrets, betrayal, tears, romance…it’s sad to let it go. It was a flawless ending to this story and it’s safe to say we feel satisfied with it.

Once again, with no doubt, Alexandra Patsavas and her staff at Chop Shop have done an outstanding job and made sure this finale had the ideal music to it. We’ve listened to their choices throughout the whole show and not once have failed.

The following songs are featured on the last episode and are just an example of the greatness on a good and powerful soundtrack, a representation of a job well done and the statement that music matters…

“They’re playing good music”

It’s time for a classic hit from the 80’s, recently used on the outstanding film ‘Perks of Being a Wallflower’, which I highly recommend.

The following single, released by English pop band Dexys Midnight Runners, won Best British single at the Brit Awards. This and ‘Geno’, became their most succesful songs, hitting number one on the UK charts…

“The Mediocrity of Perfection”

The following Mexican singer-songwriter, started out in 2008 with the release of her first album ‘Mediocre’, soon nominated for many awards including the Latin Grammy Awards among them.

After such success, producers and herself, decided to make a second album which would contain ten songs from the thirty-five she wrote.

This song was the first single from the latest album…

Little Talks Of Monsters and Men…

They are a folk-indie band from Iceland formed in 2010, same year they won a battle of the bands competition. The following song, was and probably still is considered their lead single, making its way into the top charts in several countries…

“Hawk” in Yoruba…

Asa, is a 30-year-old Nigerian-French singer-songwriter who was inspired by well-known artists such as Marvin Gaye or Bob Marley. She has two albums in which she fuses various genres like R&B, pop, soul or reggae, resulting in a perfect blend…
